Job Description

The University of Hartford invites applications for the position of Director of Career Services. This is an exciting time at the University of Hartford as a dynamic strategic plan continues to be implemented and a new president is poised to begin on July 1, 2017. The new Director will lead the re-positioning of Career Services as a cornerstone of the modern American university, innovating and implementing initiatives that will be best practices for 2020 and beyond. The Director provides leadership and direction to a comprehensive career development program that serves students and alumni of diverse undergraduate and graduate programs, working with a staff including an associate director, four assistant directors, an office coordinator, a graduate intern, and student staff. The Director will work closely with the deans of the colleges, the president and his senior staff, the Division of Student Affairs, and a talented and energetic faculty to ensure successful career and academic outcomes for all students. Career Services is well connected with each of the University’s seven colleges including in-class work, coordination of internships, and career fairs. The Director will oversee the continuation and expansion of that work, the management of on-line resources, and the development of strategic partnerships with employers and various University constituents. Job Requirements 

Qualifications include: Master's degree in Student Affairs, Student Personnel Administration, Counseling, or other closely related field required; doctorate preferred. Minimum of five years of experience in career counseling, advising, or similar higher education setting and knowledge of best practices in career services. Supervisory experience including planning, budgeting, training, and hiring. Experience in providing trainings/workshops. Excellent computer skills and knowledge of information technology used in career planning. Excellent communication and public relations skills. Work experience in a college/university academic advising or career planning office. Experience in building strategic employer relations. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
