Job Description:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Education Career Center is seeking applicants for two career consultant positions. Recently the Career Center changed its name and mission. It is expanding its outreach to serve both admitted and pre-admitted students in the departments of health sciences, the arts, and traditional education fields. Career consultants work collaboratively on meeting student needs and are cross-trained to serve all students in the School. In addition to advising students and conducting presentations, consultants have administrative roles that tap their specific talents. The UW-Madison School of Education is home of WECAN, the Wisconsin Education Career Access Network, serving over 500 school systems and teacher and administrative candidates. The principal duties of the career consultants working collaboratively with the Director and consultants are: * Provide individualized career-decision making, planning, and job search counseling for undergraduate and graduate students and alumni; assist students in developing job search skills and materials. * Build relationships with employers and facilitate employer interface with School of Education constituents. * Advise undergraduate and graduate students and alumni regarding career and professional development and process of documenting through portfolio development. * Develop, coordinate, and conduct class presentations, training, and workshop sessions focused on career development topics and job searches strategies. * Coordinate and facilitate recruiting events and fairs for School of Education candidates. * Assist with planning and promotion of career center programs and events for School of Education audiences. * Create promotional and informational materials for the office regarding School of Education majors/careers; disseminate information. * Provide administrative leadership for designated program areas. * Implement program evaluations, assess needs, facilitate first destination data collection and conduct data analysis. * Utilize technology resources in marketing, promoting and delivering career related information and services; contribute to website content and design. * Develop and maintain technical documentation and service support documentation. * Provide assistance to WECAN (Wisconsin Education Career Access Network) employers and teachers in using the online application for recruitment and hiring and the WECAN-PDP for in-service teacher re-licensure. * Complete other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications: Master's Degree (emphasis in counseling, student affairs, human resource management or related field) * One year of experience in career office setting. * Coursework and/or certification in career development, counseling, and advising. * Effective verbal and written communication skills. * Demonstrated experience working with a diverse population and ability to serve as a student advocate. Preferred Qualifications: * Strong organizational, program planning and development, and counseling experience * Ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of internal and external constituents. * Knowledge of career development theories, career-related technology and programs. * Analytical and problem solving skills. * Demonstrated knowledge of employment trends and resources.
