Career Center Assistant Director

Job Description:

The Career Center Assistant Director serves as the liaison to the College of Health and Human Services and the School of Nursing, providing leadership to the designated academic units in the design and creation of programs and activities that connect students with internships and employment. Manages outreach and collaboration efforts with faculty, administrators and students for the designated academic units as well as specified non-academic units. The AD will counsel, educate, and advise students, alumni, and community members through individual and group appointments including topics such as: choosing a major, career decision-making, writing a resume and cover letter, interview preparation, graduate school applications, and job/internship search skills. Follow up with individuals to monitor progress. This position presents frequent workshops and classroom presentations while also participating in all office career fairs, networking nights, etiquette dinners, resource fairs, etc. This position manages the First Destination Survey process for ISU graduates. Supervise the work of graduate assistants, student assistants, and technology support in creating, administering, and following up on the survey process and subsequent phone calls. Compiles, analyzes, and reports on data for use by university and all interested parties. Assists Career Center in overall operations, services, and programs as needed. Enforces Career Center policies and procedures. Makes strategic office decisions in the absence of the director. Provides supervision and mentoring to designated Career Center staff including one career coordinator, practicum students, graduate assistants and/or student staff. Prepares and implements training for GAs and practicum students.  


Job Requirements:

Required Education and Experience: Master’s degree in Business, Counseling, Human Resources, Higher Education, or Student Personnel with 5 or more years of experience in higher education, advising, coaching or counseling.
