Career Services Director (Program Coordinator III)

Job Description:

The Student Services Office in the College of Human Sciences at Iowa State University is seeking candidates for the position of Program Coordinator III. This position is housed in Student Services and serves all classifications of students: undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral. This position directs all College of Human Sciences career services functions, both internally and externally. The Program Coordinator III is responsible for developing connections with potential employers of the College of Human Sciences graduates; coordinating employer visits to campus; channeling employer inquiries and contacts about career/internship opportunities to appropriate students; providing students, alumni, faculty and staff with relevant information related to job search strategies, development of resumes, job interview strategies and suggestions for successful entry into the workforce; assessing and developing career services programs; coordinating internships (with department liaisons); developing and delivering programs to prepare students to be competitive in the job market; coordinating and or/participating career fairs (People 2 People, Teacher Education, Professional School Fair, Business, Industry and Technology Career Fair); coordinating the electronic career management system (CyHire) to gather employer, current student and post-graduate data; directing collection of graduation placement data upon graduation and creating annual reports to communicate results; analyzing market trends and occupational outlook for all majors within the college; and supervising others. In addition, this position will maintain appropriate liaison relationships with internal and external constituent groups relevant to career related programs and services. The successful candidate will have the ability to collaborate and network with both internal and external constituents. Strong technical and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to effectively communicate to large groups are critical for success in this position. This position requires occasional evening presentations and/or events to carry out position responsibilities. Additional Information: Occasional evening presentations and/or events. Job Requirements:

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree and 3 years of related experience; OR a combination of related education and/or experience totaling 9 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position. PREFERRED: Experience in a higher education Career Services Office or experience in corporate hiring and acquisition; Additional years of related experience
