Assistant Director of Assessment

Job Description:

Established in 1804, Ohio University is the oldest public institution of higher learning in the state of Ohio and the first in the Northwest Territory. The beautiful, historic campus is located in the rolling foothills of Southeast Ohio in the quintessential college town of Athens, Ohio. The Career & Leadership Development Center supports all students as they move through their initial adjustment to college, to selecting a major, to acquiring internship experience, to developing leadership skills and helping students understand the application of these skills in a lifelong career development process. Reporting to the Assistant Dean, the Associate Director of Assessment for the Career & Leadership Development Center will take the lead role in the development and establishment of assessment and research in the CLDC as well as conceptualize and manage the development of a variety of models, tools, and techniques to analyze the impact of career and leadership development services. The Associate Director of Assessment will work closely with the CLDC team, institutional partners and stakeholders to lead assessment and research projects based on institutional, state, national, and international data. The main research objective will focus on the impact of the career and leadership development services and programming on student learning outcomes, student support, engagement, and co-curricular activities. Specific to this position: • Lead strategy, and develop and enhance processes for all metrics and assessment related to the Career & Leadership Development Center at Ohio University, which includes but are not limited to student learning outcomes, graduation metrics, employer feedback, career coach feedback, leadership programming, and check-in data • Design and implement data collection, analyzing qualitative and/or quantitative data, writing reports of findings, and guiding stakeholders through interpretations of findings that advance career and leadership development services, enhance the value of experiential education, and demonstrate the value of career and leadership development for the retention, graduation, and post-graduation success of Ohio University students • Lead the administration of the campus wide graduation data collection process in conjunction with Institutional Research and academic colleges in order to provide effectiveness in data collection, synthesis, and visualization • Assist CLDC communications, marketing, as well as academic colleges and other institutional stakeholders to use data more effectively to share success stories of Ohio University students and graduates • Identify research funding opportunities and write grant proposals as necessary for strategic initiatives • Set direction in conjunction with colleagues for the multiple technology systems the Career & Leadership Development Center uses to collect data • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with allied research and policy organizations, colleagues, and associations at the state and national levels • Implement the CLDC Assessment Plan and assist with the data for the Annual Report • Collaborate with multiple campus partners on data collection • Manage research timelines, budgets, and deliverables • Partner on strategic initiatives that meet the goals for the Division of Student Affairs • Contribute to the state and national dialog and literature in the field of career and leadership development Common to all CLDC Professionals: • Provide individual and group career coaching to students and alumni/ae regarding career planning and leadership development, employment/internship search, and graduate or professional school opportunities • Collaborate with academic units and departments, campus offices, faculty, and staff to develop career/leadership co-curricular or in-class activities and programs • Utilize technology and resources to guide students through the career and leadership development process • Serve on division and CLDC teams, committees, task forces, and work groups • Perform other duties as assigned Ohio University is committed to creating a respectful and inclusive educational and workplace environment. Job Requirements:

Minimum qualifications include a Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in Higher Education, Counseling, College Student Personnel, or related field. At least three years of experience in research and/or assessment. Experience overseeing data collection and management. Familiarity with survey use and assessment tools such as SPSS, Excel, Access, Campus Labs, Qualtrics, or other online program review and survey tools. Strong written, communication, and presentation skills are required Preferred Qualification: Experience in research and assessment in the area of career and leadership development.
