Business Career Services (MBA) College of Business

Job Description:

The College of Business seeks a Director to lead the MBA Career Services team, provide career planning and advising, understand talent demand, and be accountable for direct placement of MBA students into internships and full-time employment. This is a full-time, 12-month academic professional position that reports to the Assistant Dean, Business Career Services.


  • Direct, coach and mentor the MBA team by setting expectations and holding them accountable

  • One-on-one advising with MBA students on their career development and job search strategies

  • Engage with corporate employers to drive talent demand for MBA students

  • Develop and execute value proposition for students and employers to affect placement goals

  • Work with the advising team and support student preparation for job search by critiquing student resumes and conducting mock interviews/critique

  • Develop and deliver effective educational programs and tools for domestic and international career searches

  • Understand key industry trends and opportunities affecting hiring and provide information to students

  • Maintain updated records of meetings with students, students’ career advancement activities and eventual employment activities

  • Gather, track and ensure that students complete employment surveys and that internship and full-time employment data is captured in Career Services office files • Work with the corporate engagement team to create more student opportunities for all of our programs and student groups

  • Maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive and private student information

  • Identify opportunities to increase student participation in career services programming and advising

  • Provide exemplary customer service while addressing student issues surrounding the job search process

  • Meet with prospective applicants and students to provide information on Career Services programming, advising and statistics

  • Work flexible hours and travel

Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA degree or other graduate degree preferred

  • 10+ years of professional work experience in recruiting, sales, consulting or advising; supervisory experience preferred

  • Proven ability to lead a team of professionals

  • Superior communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to foster positive relations with multiple, diverse constituencies

  • Must possess a student-centered philosophy and the ability to work with a diverse student population

  • Strong customer focus (ability to listen attentively to students and recruiters and to understand and respond positively to their requests)

  • Highly proficient with web-based resources, spreadsheet and presentation software (MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel)

  • Ability to work under pressure, with the flexibility to respond to changing priorities and fluctuating workloads

  • Strong organizational work skills, defining tasks, prioritizing assignments, and following through on all projects independently
