The Career Services Coordinator will counsel and advise students and alumni from all majors in the College of Health and Human Services and the School of Nursing. The coordinator will be the primary liaison to all CHHS / Nursing faculty and staff for programming, events, and workshops. The position includes counseling, educating and advising students and alumni through individual appointments, group sessions, drop-in hours, mock interviews, workshops and classroom presentations. Common advising topics include but are not limited to: choosing a major, choosing a career, career assessment and decision making, career research and resources, writing a resume and cover letter, interviewing skills, and job search skills. The coordinator will work closely with faculty and staff to market career services and guarantee student participation. In addition, the Career Services Coordinator will assist the Career Center in overall operations, services, and programs to serve the entire ISU student and alumni population. This includes presenting general workshops, assisting with the Career Fairs, and participating in a wide variety of career events. The coordinator will serve as a liaison to additional university departments including athletics and residential life.
Candidate must have excellent communication skills and be able to command the attention of students through presentations, workshops and in individual sessions. It is preferred that the candidate be familiar with the recruiting and hiring process, college student development, career development, and work force development. Required Education and Experience: Master’s degree in Counseling, Human Resources, Higher Education, or Student Personnel with 1-2 years of recruiting, advising or career development experience.
