Assistant Director, New Business Development

In support of the mission to increase post-graduation employment and internship opportunities for more than 1,400 Olin students, undergraduate, graduate and MBA, the Assistant Director, New Business Development will lead the way in identifying and developing new business relationships and will provide direct support to maintain client/employer relationships through regular contact and customer service. Works closely with Assistant Dean, Corporate Relations, Alumni & Development and Associate Dean, WCC to identify alumni and prospective companies to develop new recruitment partners across industries and degree levels. The Assistant Director, New Business Development takes part in activities and efforts to expand new recruiter relationships and acts as primary “new business sales manager” for the WCC Employer Relations team.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1 Lead on new business development plan, guides efforts to increase Olin brand building efforts and coordinates with the other members of the employer relations team to implement the WCC strategy to grow Olin’s overall footprint with employers and alumni. Provides ideas and executes plan to attract new recruiting relationships and expand Olin’s reach across industries, including emerging markets.
2 Manages new stakeholders through regular contact and customer service to ensure employment and internship opportunities are available to Olin students. Qualifies new prospects, maintains CRM database, and tracks sales calls and schedules meetings and presentations.
3 Research’s and tracks hiring trends within geographical areas and industries to identify new expansion opportunities to support the needs/desires of students in 6 academic programs, undergraduate and graduate.
4 Partner closely with key stakeholders across Olin and WUSTL campus including Corporate Relations, Academic Programs, MBA admissions, Executive Education, Alumni & Development to cultivate new, targeted corporate partnerships as well as leveraging alumni base in support of hiring Olin students for internships and full-time positions..
5 Works collaboratively with the Olin Marketing and Communications on the development and delivery of the marketing strategy to produce ongoing external marketing campaigns and evaluates external facing online and print materials including website, brochures, bulletins and guides to promote Olin’s value proposition to employers, including number of new recruiting relationships, level of employer outreach, and employment results.
6 Recommends short-term and long-term strategies to the Associate Dean and Director, WCC for business expansion through enhanced marketing and outreach techniques.
7 Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred with progressively responsible experience in sales, marketing and business development, preferably in industry or another top business school.
A seasoned, savvy professional with a minimum of 8 years of experience in sales, marketing or higher education.
• Strong written and verbal communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent client-focus and relationship-building abilities.
• Entrepreneurial mindset along with the drive and passion to execute deadline driven tasks
• Strong project management, program management, networking and sales skills.
• Ability to quickly develop relationships across teams and departments.
• Experience in public speaking and presentations.
• Outstanding Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills, CRM system experience preferred.
