Internship Coordinator and Career Advisor

Job Description:

The Coordinator will develop, implement and promote programs and initiatives to increase and enhance UNL students’ participation in internships. Coordinate and lead efforts to collect and disseminate an array of internship opportunities and other supervised experiences both curricular and co-curricular. Collaborate with college partners to identify appropriate opportunities for introducing career development strategies into the academic curriculum. Responsibilities may include developing assignments, establishing student learning outcomes and assessing the impact on student learning and career development. Provide career advising primarily to undergraduate students, along with alumni and graduate students regarding career decision-making, experiential learning opportunities, full-time professional job search strategies and techniques, and career/life planning. Assist students in exploring interests, majors, and careers through on-line resources and interpretation of career assessments. Deliver core presentations throughout the year to varied audiences.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, or related field plus 2 years of experience in a college/university setting with career/academic advising experience required. Must have demonstrated organization, time management, verbal and written communication skills. Experience with public speaking required. Experience must demonstrate an ability to learn extensive career information as well as internship policies and procedures. Must be proficient with word processing, database, spreadsheet, email and presentation software programs. Ability to work independently required. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in education administration, student affairs, psychology, business, human resources, or related field preferred. Experience with learning outcomes and/or curriculum development and familiarity with internship programs preferred.
