The Assistant Director position serves as a key member of the Center's management team. As departmental liaison to three University colleges, this position manages and coordinates career services programs and activities for the following MSU Colleges: 1) Allied Health and Nursing; 2) Business; and 3) Science, Engineering and Technology. As such, the Assistant Director provides individual and group career planning and job and internship search guidance, services, programming, and resources to students and alumni; conducts targeted group and classroom presentations; designs and implements communications for faculty/staff, employers, students, and graduates; and plans and coordinates several career events annually. In addition, this position is responsible for providing leadership, oversight and supervision for the Center’s employer relations and job/internship development activities, which includes functional supervision of one clerical staff member. The individual in this position must be committed to creating and supporting a welcoming, open, and inclusive environment for all students and constituents.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Master's Degree • Three (3) years of full-time professional experience with the delivery of career services and programs. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Experience with career counseling and job/internship searching with college students. • Experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) or Career Services Management (CSM) software systems such as NACElink, Experience, CSO, etc. • Demonstrated educational program development and presentation experience. • Excellent communication skills. • Supervisory experience. • Experience with building and maintaining successful working relationships with students/alumni, employers, and faculty/staff. • Experience with the delivery of career services and programs in higher education. • Knowledge of student and career development theories and their application in practice. • Strong technology skills related to the area of career counseling, including: internet career planning and job search tools and resources (including LinkedIn, Strong Interest Inventory, MBTI, and computerized career guidance systems, social media, etc.) • Experience working with Microsoft Office and student record systems. • Creative, conscientious, and dedicated. • Capable of multi-tasking and setting priorities within a team environment. • Ability to travel. • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
