Saint Joseph’s College in Indiana has an opening for the inaugural position of Director of Career and Leadership Development. This position, formerly focused solely on career development, is charged with providing direction and execution of a college-wide initiative that incorporates best practices in the field of career services resulting in enhanced career and leadership development. The College places exceptional emphasis on the education of the whole person. To this end, the Director of Career and Leadership Development supports this objective through the creation and delivery of a career and leadership program while leveraging curricular and co-curricular components of the student experience into optimal post-graduate opportunities. The Director’s leadership of professional and student staff in fostering these experiences is integral to the success of the mission. Successful candidates will appreciate flexibility to innovate, lead a department ripe for change and have a voice within the College community. Saint Joseph’s College Department of Career Development serves an enrolled student population of approximately 1,000 undergraduate students, a budding graduate population, and the alumni community. Reporting to the Dean of Students in the Office of Student Development, the Director has two major areas of responsibility: direct oversight of career guidance and development of students and alumni and facilitation of leadership development across campus. The Director serves as an expert in employment and graduate school preparation and is charged with providing a platform to promote the benefits of the Core program to employers in every industry. The Director assists the Dean of Students in the management, evaluation and decision-making within the Division. This position assists with Divisional oversight, financial planning and creation of proposals. Successful candidates will also have the ability to be an architect of leadership program initiatives across campus. Though a more complete list of duties and qualifications can be found at http://www.saintjoe.edu/hr/openings.html regularly occurring responsibilities include: one-onone career development counseling both in person and virtually, leadership program development, workshop design and delivery, and special event programming. The Director is responsible for the development of strategic goals, objectives and assessment plans for the Career Development office, providing assistance to students throughout their tenure at the College and beyond in developing, assessing, and implementing life-long career planning options. The Director will also be charged with expanding existing Career Development relationships within the College’s academic and administrative departments and student groups. Notably, regular collaboration with campus offices including Academics, Alumni and Parent Relations, Admissions, and the entirety of Student Development is expected.

The successful candidate should possess a master's degree and five years of relevant experience with increasing responsibility in Career Development leadership.
