The Assistant Director for Career Services, Business & Marketing provides comprehensive job search preparation for students seeking professional positions in business and marketing; the Assistant Director serves as a specialist translating a wide range of academic and career preparation into career opportunities. The primary area of service is assisting students with their career development and job search process through individual counseling. This position is also responsible for organizing and presenting workshops, educational programming and special events as well as playing an active role in job development. The Assistant Director works closely with other University Career Services (UCS) staff, academic departments, and campus units to collaboratively address the specific career needs of students with a business focus.
Specific Responsibilities Career Services Practitioner: Provides full time job search and employment services to graduating students (undergraduate and graduate), includes individual career counseling, programming and workshops, and special events;
Employer Services: Helps to coordinate direct services for employers, including managing UCS informational resources for recruiters and collecting and maintaining appropriate data requested by employers and assisting in dissemination;
Resource and Program Development: Invests in research and development activities that enhance career resources and services; tracks and maintains current employment, labor market and trends and resources as related to business and related fields; provide continuous updates to staff and the university community as appropriate;
Outreach: Coordinates and delivers UCS programs, services, resources and information to undergraduate and graduate students with a primary focus on those seeking professional opportunities in the business industry;
Job Development and Employer Relations: Identifies prospective employers of graduates; coordinates employer services and functions with the recruiting team; serve as liaison with employers, academic departments, and UCS.
Program Administration: Performs administrative tasks and assignments related to University Career Services, Student Affairs and University responsibilities; performs related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: • A master's degree in Counseling, Student Affairs, or related is required or the equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired; • 2 to 3 years of professional experience in the fields of career services with preference given to work in a higher education setting. Preferred Qualifications: • Evidence of ability to collaborate and build partnerships within career services and across campus, as well as with recruiters and industry representatives; • The ability to be flexible; • Demonstrated organizational skills; • The ability to respond to and manage multiple constituencies; • Proven ability to work with diverse populations As per Northwestern University policy, this position requires a criminal background check.
