Assistant Director for the Career and Leadership Development Center (Two Positions)

The Division of Student Affairs seeks two collaborative and dynamic student-centered professionals to serve in the newly formed Career and Leadership Development Center. Each Assistant Director conducts individual career counseling appointments and leadership development programming, assesses learning outcomes, interprets assessment instruments, plans and presents programs and workshops, coordinates events and activities, and has direct contact with students on a daily basis in a variety of settings. Specific areas of focus for positions include: 1) Student Outreach (lead peer-to-peer career services and facilitate outreach to student organizations/venues). 2) Website/Technology (facilitate the use and development of the Center’s website, coordinate technology resources and initiatives in the Center, and with other campus offices). Reporting to the Associate Director for the Career and Leadership Center, the Assistant Directors will serve as the primary career counselors and leadership development programmers. Additional responsibilities include: • Counsel students one-on-one and in groups regarding career planning and leadership development, employment/internship search, and graduate or professional school opportunities • Assess services/ programs to determine student needs/learning outcomes and facilitate continuous improvement • Supervise 1-2 graduate assistants as well as a cohort of peer leaders, advisors and interns • Provide delivery of leadership and career development programs and services • Collaborate with academic units and departments, campus offices, faculty, and staff to develop career/leadership co-curricular or in-class activities and programs • Utilize technology and resources to guide students through the career and leadership development process (FOCUS, OCIS, Occupational Outlook, O*Net, Career Beam, Bobcat Mentor Network, StrengthsFinder, True Colors, etc.) • Collaborate with the employer relations team to ensure that student preparation leads to success in their interactions with employers • Utilize technology (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Career Database Management System, Interview Stream) to mentor students in networking and connecting with employment opportunities
Minimum qualifications include a Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in Higher Education, Counseling, College Student Personnel, or related field.
