Associate Director - External Relations

Reporting to the Director of Career Services, the Associate Director of External Relations contributes to the mission and goals of Career Services by providing overall leadership for all aspects of employer and alumni relations. The position leads a staff including coordinators of Information Technology and Communication, and directs all on-campus recruiting programs, including on-campus interviews, career fairs, employer visits, job/internship postings in Husker Hire Link, and collaboration with College and Department recruitment programs/efforts. The Associate Director will serve on the senior administration team for campus wide career services, assisting in setting vision and strategy for engaging employers and alumni. Must work collaboratively with college partners and the Associate Director for the Student Experience. Develop, maintain and continuously improve policies and practices for employer relations which engage and involve employers and alumni in on-campus programs for all colleges at UNL. Responsible for the identification and on-going measurement of key performance indicators for employer and alumni engagement. As leader of the External Relations team, the position will provide training and guidance to Career Advisers on the Student Experience team for their responsibility in maintaining employer partnerships. In addition the Associate Director will be an active member of the career advising team, maintaining a regular calendar for student appointments.
Master’s degree in psychology, sociology, human resources, business or related field plus 5 years of experience working with employers and/or students in the recruitment or job search process required (Bachelor’s and 7 years of experience, considered in lieu of Masters). Must have demonstrated success in developing employer relations strategies with the goal of increasing employer involvement, recruiting, and hiring. Excellent organization, time management, verbal and written communication skills essential. Experience with public speaking required. Experience must demonstrate an ability to learn extensive career information, policies and procedures. Proficiency in word processing, database, spreadsheet and presentation software and ability to query and analyze data necessary.
