The College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Director, Engineering Career Services. The primary function of the Assistant Director is to assist in coordinating and delivering career management services for College of Engineering students and employers. This position reports to the Director of Engineering Career Services who reports to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs. Specific responsibilities include the following: · Manage reporting for the ECS office, including tracking placement statistics, information request from the Career Services Council and other units, and ad hoc reporting · Provide career advising and counseling to undergraduate and graduate students · Conduct resume reviews, mock interviews, etc. with students to prepare them for each stage of the recruiting process · Conduct professional development workshops for Engineering Career Services (ECS), student organizations, and departments/programs as needed · Collaborate with staff members in the Undergraduate Programs Office · Assist with the coordination and execution of recruiting events and activities for students, employers, and alumni, including special events · Assist in maintaining a professional, service-oriented environment when hosting recruiters during campus visits · Manage projects as assigned · Represent ECS at meetings and events and assist in expanding relations with recruiters, College of Engineering alumni, faculty, and University administrators · Attend conferences and other events related to student recruitment as requested · Supervise undergraduate hourly employees (delegating tasks, monitoring performance, etc.) · Other duties as assigned
This position requires a Bachelor's degree; a Master’s Degree is preferred. At least three years of work experience is required, preferably in a corporate recruiting or career management capacity. Experience in a university placement office is highly desirable. Excellent interpersonal skills are also required, and effective communication skills are critical. The Assistant Director, Engineering Career Services position is a full-time, benefits-eligible academic professional position appointed on a 12-month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date. Applicants may be interviewed before the closing date; however, no hiring decision will be made until after that date.
