Information Management Specialist

The Information Management Specialist (IMS) is a full time, 12-month Academic Professional appointment in The Career Center, a unit within Student Affairs at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The Information Management Specialist provides leadership for The Career Resource Center (CRC) by managing, coordinating, and disseminating career and pre-professional information (digitally and in print) and overseeing the functions of the CRC. The IMS maintains multiple websites and database infrastructure; provides technology training and support for staff; writes, edits and manages web content. The IMS serves as a resource to professional staff for informational needs regarding career development. The candidate must be aware of the career development needs and concerns of students. The Information Management Specialist contributes to the vision and strategic planning of The Career Center, is a member of the Career Connections team, assesses learning and service outcomes, plans and presents programs and workshops, coordinates events and activities, utilizes career technologies, communicates electronically, develops print and virtual resources, and has direct contact with students on a daily basis in a variety of settings.
Master’s degree required. An ALA accredited MS-LIS degree or similar is preferred. Minimum of one year of relevant experience is required which may include graduate assistant practicum or pre-professional experience. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Library of Congress Classification and the use of Integrated Library Systems. Previous experience with website and database management as well as development of electronic/print resources. Demonstrated interest in using and/or learning web languages and technologies. Desire to serve the information needs of college students regarding career development.
