Job Description:

University of Notre Dame Assistant Director - Undergraduate Career Center The University of Notre Dame (http://ND.jobs) is accepting applications for a Assistant Director - Undergraduate Career Center. Applications will be accepted until 2/28/2018. The Assistant Director strategically participates in student programming across functions for the department, involving Employer Engagement team, program directors, and Operational team as appropriate. Leadership of specific student programming initiatives will be expected - usually this will be in regard to the industry area of expertise, though it is not restricted to it. Currently the industries for this particular opening are but could change depending on need: Engineering- Aerospace, Automotive, Biotechnology, Chemicals, Construction, Civil/Environmental, Energy, and Manufacturing. The incumbent will serve as one of the liaisons to the College of Engineering which includes regular meetings with the Faculty and Staff of the College. Conducts individual student appointments related to all career development topic needs, while serving as an industry focus leader in the College of Engineering. Connects with career counseling colleagues within the department to successfully partner on programs, workshops, and other career events. Participates in regular Career Counseling meetings and large departmental events, maintains up to date appointment notes, and provides leadership in industry focus area. Covers walk-in hours as needed. Participates in employer development related to area of expertise, collaborating with Employer Engagement team for priorities. Attends employer visits to the Center for Career Development to stay aware of trends and opportunities. Maintains profile in Go IRISH and utilizes other job search engines to facilitate sharing of information with students. Provides leadership to an array of student programming (mentorship programs, networking events, industry nights, etc.) in conjunction with industry expertise area, academic liaison roles, and other topics of interest. Serve as an administrator for IrishCompass Industry Groups related to the position's assigned industries. This includes discussion generation, posting resources, addressing issues and collaborating with other administrators within the group. Participates in major departmental programming (career fairs, etc.) in support of student participation and successful outcomes. Represents the Center for Career Development across campus and in professional associations/community organizations. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director to ensure the success of the Career Development Center, the University, students, and other stakeholders. Assistant Director of the Center for Career Development will serve as a generalist across all areas of career development in a career counseling capacity for undergraduate students. This would include working individually with students on choosing a major, conducting a job/internship/graduate school search, preparing resumes/cover letters/graduate school applications, and conducting assessments. Assistant Director position is expected to serve the department as a leader with respect to several industries of interest to the student body. Liaison roles to academic areas or other facets of the University may be assigned.

 



Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required Related experience in Engineering and/or STEM fields and/or with related field experience in complex career services office. Appreciation for centralized undergraduate career services model. Understanding of NACE professional standards and career development theory. Exhibits strong ethical standards in an effort to advocate for all students. Advanced communication, program evaluation, and outcomes development skills. Desire to contribute ideas toward the success of the overall undergraduate career services program essential. (#LI-POST ) Preferred Qualifications: Masters in Career Counseling; Counseling and Human Services; Student Affairs; or related programs; and experience in career counseling with an emphasis on Engineering and/or STEM fields.
